The 2013 Oscars Hair and Makeup Beauty Report

by Katherine Callaghan

Here at FPD we are still in the whirlwind that is the Oscars and all with good reason. We have rounded some of the best hair and makeup looks from a night where beauty trumps all.

Stacy-Keibler-2013-Oscars

Stacy Keibler stole the spotlight at the Oscars with her gorgeous gown and impeccable makeup look. On many interview occasions, George Clooney stepped aside and let the cameras focus on his lovely girlfriend;  who said chivalry is dead? Celebrity make-up artist, Matthew VanLeeuwen was inspired by the glamorous ’20s, and this look was one of our favorites because it is something anyone can achieve with the help of some Elizabeth Arden New York products! To create this look simply use: PREVAGE Anti-Aging + Intensive Repair Daily Serum, Flawless Finish Sponge-On Cream Makeup, and dust on Pure Finish Radiant Bronzing Powder.  For the eyes use: Beautiful Colorr Eye Shadow in Bone all over the eye and then in the crease apply Shimmering Cooper and Sugar Cube. To complete the look, use Beautiful Color Smoky Eyes Pencil and Enhancing Mascara. And lastly, no look is complete without some lip color! Try the  Ceramide Ultra Lipstick in Cameo.

The Best Dressed for the 2013 Oscars Goes to…

by Katherine Callaghan

The Oscars is a night to celebrate cinematography, but it is also a night that brings great buzz about who was wearing what. So with no further ado, here is what we believe were the best dressed of the night in the following order:

Jennifer-Lawerence-2013-2

1. Jennifer Lawrence in Dior Haute Couture looked breathtaking in this ivory colored gown. This mermaid-style dress flowed in such a way that looked like Lawrence was walking on a cloud with this billowing bottom. Keeping the accessories to a minimum with diamond earrings and a necklace worn in a style reminiscent of Princess Diana, she let the dress do the talking. And that it did. Whether it was via Twitter or Facebook her dress was all the buzz and all in good reason.

2. Charlize Theron also chose a Dior Haute Couture white peplum gown. Marrying simplicity and elegance, the completion of this outfit exemplifies that less is more. With a strapless V-neck neckline,  slimming bottom and train, this sultry look was one of our jaw-dropping favorites.

Our 6 Best Dressed At The Oscars

by FashionPulseAlana

The Oscars, also known as the Academy Awards, are held annually in honor of cinematic excellence. Why not bestow awards for sartorial grandeur as well? We tuned in to choose our best dressed (in random order).

1. Jessica Chastain in McQueen: Jessica looked utterly gorgeous in a black and copper strapless gown of stunning hand embroidery. Her fair complexion and half-up hairstyle were equally as divine, as was the fact that she brought her Nana along for the evening!

2. Rose Byrne in Vivienne Westwood: This midnight blue one-shoulder embellished number was quite the contrast from the much-talked about Elie Saab white jumpsuit Rose recently wore to the SAG Awards. We think she nailed it, yet again, proving that everything we know and love about elegant monochromatic looks reigns true. Did you catch a glimpse of her Chanel fine jewelry as well? To.die.for.

3. Michelle Williams in Louis Vuitton: Coral, peplum, cascading ruffles to the floor…this dress is perfection in many ways. We adore Michelle’s choice to to top it all off with dainty jewelry.

4. Gwyneth Paltrow in Tom Ford: Rather amazingly, Gwyneth pulled off a cape on the Red Carpet. Could she have been any more statuesque in this all white structured look? The gown was modern-feminine, and the cape was menswear-distinguished in a way that only she knows how to own. OUR WINNER.

5. Cameron Diaz in Gucci: That peachy color and ever-so-slight sequin detail looked so fun and fresh. The skin tight strapless bodice and floor trailing ruffles really upped the glam factor, all the while maintaining Cameron’s one of a kind dynamic personality.

6. Angelina Jolie in Versace: Once again she looked untouchable in an all-black fantastic gown. The super high slit showed a lot of leg, while the pop of volume at the hips pleasantly surprised us. And that red lip…swoon.

Who do you deem the supreme head turner?

Freida Pinto, from Slum Dog Millionaire, looks absolutely stunning in this one shouldered, beaded blue gown.

picture-41Who would have ever guessed that the stunning Taraji P. Henson played Brad Pitt’s Mother in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button? Her vintage Fred Leighton jewels are stunninh, not to mention the filmy white gown!

picture-61Loved the elegant petal layers of Miley Cyrus’ gown – very grown up and sophisticated.

picture-81Angelina Jolie looks perfect in this classic silhouette, slight reminiscent of bombshell Jessica Rabbit (in a good way).

picture-91Kate Winslet always hits it out of the ballpark, especially in this gradient gown.

picture-111It absolutely looks like this amazingly draped Versace gown was made for Maria Tomei!

picture-12SJP looks like a fairytale princess!

picture-14Kudos to Beyonce for wearing a print and showing off her curves.

picture-17Best Supporting Actress Penelope Cruz looks certainly like an award-winner in this fabulous gown; cream or white seems the way to go for the Oscars!
