By now, every fashionable gal has incorporated at least one pair of nude pump into her wardrobe — whether sky-high platforms to be paired with nearly any night-out dress, or more day-friendly kitten heels to rock with her favorite pair of jeans or work slacks. Either way, the nude heel has had a long run (and the style will probably will continue to thrive), but it’s time to welcome a new neutral for the new year of trends ahead! Taupe pumps may not have the same leg-lengthening “invisible” quality as full-on skin tone pumps do (well, I suppose it depends on your skin tone!), but it’s still a goes-with-everything neutral shade that looks sleek yet chic with pants, skirts, tights, etc. The shade is slightly more unexpected and therefore a fresher take on the tried-and-true nude hue, and also balances out louder prints and florals that are bound to start cropping up as the weather warms up for spring!

Initiated in 2009 as an event to celebrate fashion and give a much-needed boost of confidence and cash to the fashion industry, Fashion’s Night Out was a spectacular success and is back for its second year. Hundreds of stores will be open late, and they’ll be hosting tons of events: celebrity appearances, fashion shows, discounts, visits from the designers themselves — the night will truly be a celebration of all things fashion. In addition to aiding the fashion financial sector, an important New York charity will also get a boost, the New York City AIDS Fund. This New York Fashion Week, Nine West will partner with Omron, the CFDA, Sony, Marilyn, IMG, Elite and fashion photographer and ANTM judge Nigel Barker to raise funds and awareness for Fashion Targets Breast Cancer. The partnership is a part of Nine West’s Runway Relief program and will have top models like Jessica White and Coco Rocha get involved for the cause.

The models will don a limited-edition pair of Runway Relief boots, equipped with an Omron GOSmart Pocket Pedometer, to track each model’s steps as she runs between castings, fittings and fabulous parties throughout the week. For every step she takes, a donation will be made to Fashion Targets Breast Cancer.

Nigel Barker will kick off the program on August 31st with a photoshoot of the participating models in an iconic New York location, and you can catch the live stream on Nine West’s Facebook page or on www.modelinia.com. So tune in, or even drop by the location to meet Nigel himself.

And for Nine West Facebook fans, there’s a special treat just for you! Starting on the 31st, a limited supply of the Runway Relief boot will be available, exclusively for you, for $199. So take a step in the right direction and shop for a great cause!
