So…I’m going to put the pause button on taking outfit photos outside! As a person who is ALWAYS cold, it’s a little hard for me to pose for an extended period of time outside while trying to get the lighting and background perfect, when it is literally 10 degrees and the wind is rather blustery and has other plans for me (like to blow my hat off of my head or glasses off of my face -it happened last week). When I do have to bare the cold, I love a peekaboo of color peering out from the bottom of my coat via a bright pant, or a hint of a bright shade via a bit of a cuff or the top of the sweater saying hello.
I love the vibrancy of this color combination, as well as the slightly textured feel to it via a fuzzy alpaca cardie, soft brushed cord pant, a silky soft cotton blouse, and suede boots. The trick to keeping it complimentary opposed to clashing (in a bad way) is to keep the color palette to four hues, maximum, and minimize the mixing of patterns and prints.
The final effect of the footwear choice could easily throw the look off, so I wanted to go with a neutral shade that avoided comparisons to the other colors in the look. The taupe found in the Caramel Boots added some color balance, the shearling kept it casual, while the small buckle at the top and streamlined silhouette kept it polished.¬† I made the look even more office-friendly by adding a Sorrelli cocktail ring for day — one of my favorite transitional pieces.
