What do you wear to an exhibition opening party at the Museum of the Moving Image (MOMI)? Well, it must be stylish, and since Persol is a part of it, I assume then it’s okay to wear your sunglasses at night? All joking aside, the sartorial selections should be sleek, chic, maybe Italian (a nod to Persol’s heritage), and ready to dance, eat, drink, and learn about the latest on-view collection!
The exhibit, PERSOL MAGNIFICENT OBSESSIONS: 30 Stories of Craftsmanship in Film runing now through August 19th, takes a closer look at ten stories of obsessive workmanship within a select number of films. On display are items from well-recognizable movies as well as the rarely seen research notes, sketches, video interviews, and various other objects used in the development process by some of the world’s most respected filmmakers.
During the course of the evening’s festitivies I met actor John Turturro, watched a video about the meticulous process of Persol eyeglass-making, and made something of my own; a tiny flipbook film as memorabilia from the night (pictured above)!
