Have you ever starred and stared into the depths of a closet or part of a room, and felt overwhelmed and frustrated, stumped on how to create a noticeable improvement? Welcome to my world, although I’m sure all of us have been there at one point or another in our lives. I’ve also had the “that’s cool, but I have no idea what to do with it” reaction to objects for the home that I’ve come across, needed some guidance, and a second opinion.

Luckily, this past week, I was able to meet event planner and lifestyle expert extraordinaire, Mindy Weiss, who transformed an indoor/outdoor penthouse at NYC’s Giraffe Hotel into a warm, inviting space. As we walked through the space, I snapped photos  and have some of the great tips listed below, so that you can apply them to your abode immediately. Table setting does not have to be so boring and traditional; mix and match patterns, textures and colors for a modern feel. You can buy complete sets at HomeGoods, but sometimes it’s fun to have a more eclectic, and modern, feel to a dinner party.
