Channeling the Maxx Life Through the Power of Style at T.J.Maxx

by Julia DiNardo

[Talking about the evolution of style and finding your own look with actress Erika Christensen and costume designer Jenn Rogien]

Leave it to my beloved  T.J.Maxx to add in an interesting conversation when it comes to piecing together a wardrobe, or just selecting some new items for the season. T.J.Maxx doesn’t need much of an introduction, however I’d like to share more from actress Erika Christensen (“Parenthood”) and costume designer Jenn Rogien (“Girls,” “Orange is the New Black”), who I met at the T.J.Maxx event and hosted a conversation to talk about how women use style to tell their story. Dressing for a new season, like this fall or winter, or just in general, doesn’t mean that you have to participate in all of the trends or feel obligated to pick up certain items. It’s more important to think below the surface level as to what works for your life, needs, and body shape and let your conscious guide you toward pieces that you inexplicably love.

Above, via the slideshow, you’ll find some images of some great new fall items at T.J.Maxx that can easily fit a variety of body shapes, skin complexions and even lifestyles; which item(s) do you gravitate toward?  See below for a few tips from Jenn that highlight who you are and what matters most to you and what you can express through your personal style.

1.    Find your style, and tell your story.  Just like actors in TV shows and movies, you are your own character and the clothes you wear and way you style your home help to define your personality to those around you.
2.    Let Your Life Lead Your Style.  Let interests, passions and aspirations shine through when creating an outfit or look in the home.
3.    Wear Trends In A Way That Works for You. You don’t need to follow every new trend to be fashionable. Find those perfect pieces that make you feel good about who you are.
4.    Update Your Look as Your Journey Evolves.  It takes a lot of trial and error to find a personal style that shows off your true self.  Self-expression is a journey not a destination and to communicate who you are you don’t need to reinvent your entire wardrobe or home all in one go. Most importantly, wear and display what makes you happy!
