The last season of shows in the tents at Bryant Park is already off to a memorable start…

Mackage

Brown is back in a big way for Fall/Winter 2010, at least according to Mackage. A safe palette of neutral shades, from brown to silver, black and cream found its down the runway, however, it just felt right this season. Perhaps the precursor was the snowstorms that recently struck the east coast, but either way, Mackage’s signature, jackets, were absolutely stunning. Great tailoring was found on even the fullest of puffer coats, while the Mackage dresses were given an interesting texture while sleek enough to slide under their uber-chic jackets and coats. As the show went on, shoulders became bolder and more prounounced, yet it just felt necessary, and what was needed at fashion at this moment, setting a very stylish, sculpted tone for New York Fashion Week.

BCBG Max Azria

With the exception of using jersey fabric, this show was a complete departure from what we’ve come to expect from BCBG Max Azria. A bit of ‘Luke Skywalker’ desert chic seemed to be the motif, with long triangular-cut tunics, angled color blocking, and slouch slouch slouch running throughout the collection. A mostly muted palette reigned this season, however some requisite sparkle was not completely forgotten.

Richard Chai

Keeping it clean and simple this season in clothes and makeup, Richard Chai showed us his smartly dresses cool girl with navys, greys, and blacks leading the way. Easy breezy clothes, only made complicated by the layering techniques were found here; sequins, light jersey, and fur all had a very downtown New York vibe, making the statement that versatile, weatable clothing is what this season is about.

Duckie Brown

Although menswear is infrequently covered on Fashion Pulse Daily, we always have to make an exception for a few designers, which always includes Duckie Brown. These designers sure know how to make a guy come out of his shell when it comes to expirementing with and embracing color in everything from trenchcoats to suits, topcoats and cropped pants.

Fashion’s Night Out is an unprecedented initiative created to celebrate fashion, restore consumer confidence, and boost the industry’s economy. With the collaboration between American Vogue, the Council of Fashion Designers of America, NYC & Company, and the City of New York on September 10, 2009, more than 700 stores will stay open late to put the fun back in shopping. Designer appearances, live windows, celebrity guests, and other special events and discounts have been initiated to aid in the financial sector of the fashion industry but in addition, two important New York charities—the September 11th Memorial and Museum and the NYC AIDS Fund. Both will benefit from the sales of a charity t-shirt and tote, plus a citywide clothing drive, respectively. Check out the videos created by Fashion’s Night Out and the Style Coalition to promote shopping and get in the spirit of the event! Wonder where Fashion Pulse will be? Check out our twitter feed, @fashionpulse, for updated info, picks, and tips live from Fashion’s Night Out!

So join in the fun with what we think are the best of Fashion’s Night Out (and if you can’t make it to the stores/NYC, how about a little online shopping?):

I ended up with a bad cold, so please forgive me for the dealy in fashion week recaps!

Richard Chai (Womens):

Fur’s the word at Richard Chai this season, although he still knows how to make a mean print work in a variety of ways.

Mackage:

True to their heritage, Mackage stayed focused with absolutely incredible jackets — I would be glad to wear every single one of them – leather bombers, parkas, long wool cream overcoats- you name it!

Milly:

Milly designer Michelle Smith runs the lbd department for fall 2009 — seriously, and that’s a good thing.

Marchesa:

A true fantasy in eveningwear, 100% red carpet-worthy, and I’m sure to see a few of them tonight at the Oscars

3.1 Phillip Lim:

The ’60s inspiration was quite evident; the coats were quite exquisite.

Proenza Schouler:

These boys can do no wrong; McCollough and Hernandez sent out a bevy of coats, tweeds and dresses without forgoing their signature, accentuated modern bustier silhouette.
