The most popular accessories that have emerged for this upcoming spring 2017 season have been anything but subtle or minimalist. Looking back at the Spring/Summer 2017 fashion week shows, designers mainly chose statement jewelry, bags, and other accessories to complement the looks in their collections. The most prominent looks to keep an eye out for include statement earrings, oversized handbags, wide belts, skinny scarves, platform footwear, and chokers.

Both Balenciaga and Marni included oversized bags for spring in their shows, while Roberto Cavalli and Lanvin kept the choker trend moving along with large, beaded versions in their collections. To get a more affordable version of this bold look, try the GUESS Multi-Row Choker, available online at Macy’s for $20. For an accessory flattering on almost every body, try wearing a wide belt, which appeared in the shows for Balmain and Les Copains. To try out this look for less, check out Urban Outfitters’ Coco Corset belt, available online for $29.

Throughout Paris Fashion Week, statement trends like metallic fabrics and bold, vibrant colors were all key styles for this upcoming fall season. One that proved to be most versatile throughout the shows was the classic turtleneck. This piece appeared on almost every runway, solidifying its place as a staple once again for the colder months of the year. Designers like Elie Saab, Christian Dior, and Chanel all featured the turtleneck in their collections, each in their own signature aesthetic.

Zuhair Murad drew inspiration for his show from French music and fashion icon Francoise Hardy, showing a simple black turtleneck layered under a cropped jacket. Stella McCartney took a monochromatic approach to the style in her collection, featuring a turtleneck camel-colored jumpsuit under an ankle length coat of the same tone, both in a slightly oversized fit. Channeling a more edgy side was Saint Laurent, which included a white turtleneck sweater paired with a black leather jacket and skirt.

Click through the slideshow above to see our other top picks for for turtlenecks, sure to become a staple item in your fall wardrobes.

Lanvin Introduces its New Fragrance, Éclat de Fleurs

by Rachael Comeau

Recently Lanvin unveiled its newest and arguably best yet fragrance, Éclat de Fleurs, which epitomizes femininity with both floral and fruity notes. FPD took in the featured and most prominent scent elements at the launch event last week, which include pear, a bouquet of flowers, white musk, and sandalwood. This fragrance follows the 2002 release of Eclat de Arpège, inspire by the bond between house founder Jeanne Lanvin and her daughter.

This previous fragrance was used as further inspiration for Éclat de Fleurs, which is described by the brand as “feminine, fresh, and spontaneous, that gives off both lightness and joy.” The aim is to give the impression of a sunny spring afternoon, which it certainly does, in full sensory aromas. The bottle features a carved out flower, resembling the marguerite, which is also the name of Jeanne Lanvin’s daughter. The fragrance is priced at $82 for the 1.7 oz. size, and $105 for the 3.3 oz., and is available now exclusively at Nordstrom.

What FPD Wore: Fall 2014 Fashion Week, Day 3

by Julia DiNardo

fashion week day 3-2

Day 3 of New York Fashion Week, per usual, fell on a Saturday, which also incurred a bit of train delays and walking — thank GOODNESS I had comfy clothes on! It was a big show day, taking in Monique Lhuillier, Herve Leger, Mara Hoffman, Adeam, and more, but I somehow managed it all with gusto. The trends are certainly beginning to surface, so stay tuned for trend reports coming shortly. In the meanwhile, here’s what I wore:
