Strapless Optional Seutache Embroidered Long Gown with Beaded Accents

Sue Wong, best known for her elegant evening-wear division, aims to transform the woman into a goddess; “It’s akin to the special feeling we all had as little girls when we first tried on our mother’s or a loved one’s best garment or jewelry and saw ourselves redefined.” Let us walk you through our favorite feminine pieces from the designer, equipped with sparkle, shine, and frou.

Art Deco-Inspired Beaded Gown with Laser-Cut Petal Skirt Trimmed with Ostrich Feathers

Embellished and Embroidered Long Gown with Sunburst Pleated Skirt

For Spring 2012, Wong draws on “The Lady and the Vamp” motif as she plays with the duality of the two. Fresh designs of organza petals are delicate, while sexy black laced gowns demand gothicism. Art deco gowns and 20s inspired silhouettes of satin and chiffon allow the clothes to take on a power of their own. Each gown is meticulously hand beaded adding to the fantasy allure.

Above are my favorites within the general SS12 collection; Below I chose the best of bridal. The incredible vintage feel and bright colors made it rather difficult to pick!

Long Halter Ball Gown with Beaded Embroidered Torso and 3-D Raw Edge Floral and Tiered Skirt

Art Deco Inspired Beaded Gown with Lazer-Cut Petal Skirt Trimmed with Ostrich Feathers

Bridal for Spring/Summer 2012:

Sweetheart Neckline Ball Gown with Intricate Torso Beading and Tulle Ruched Skirt

Strapless Long Gown with Embroidered Floral and Ribbon Appliqued Jet-Beaded Bodice

Sue Wong designs are available in over 27 countries and at department stores including Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Bloomingdale’s, and Nordstrom.

So, why not indulge in those treats you normally wouldn’t? After all, you’re not yourself…

As a kid, I dreamt of filling my pillowcase and then dumping it out to marvel over my profit. Today, I dream of filling my closet with some of these candy inspired pieces. Everyone deserves a treat once in a while, albeit candy, clothing, or accessories!

[Cropped Cobalt Cable Knit via NastyGal.com, $58]

Make a Big Statement With Brights

Invite brights into your wardrobe. As pictured above, the entire ensemble is vivid, from head to toe, and it still works so well! M&M’s can offer tremendous inspiration, and also blissful chocolatey satisfaction.

[Gold Foil Bodycon Skirt via Topshop.com, $50]

Be Flashy

“There’s no wrong way to eat a Reeses;” similarly, this skirt can do no wrong. It’s bodycon shape gives it instant sex-appeal, while the gold foil print provides the perfect amount of flash. Quick tip: pair it with a chunky sweater and thick tights during the day- there’s no need to shy away from some daytime metallic!

Cherish Classics

Crossbody bags are a must-have accessory, so why not do it in a funky orange color? The minimalistic gold hardware and fringe tassle detail keep this bag as classic as the candy corn it matches.

Crave a Chocolate… Cape

There is something terribly irresistible about chocolate. Known to arouse the senses, it has also been proven to be delectably good for you. The feel good look of this cape actualizes the feel good taste of chocolate.

Release the Inner Kid Again

Is it just me or do the colors in this jumper match Tootsie Pops quite perfectly? If only the sweater came with some chocolate too! Crewneck sweaters are all the rage, so go for a simple, easy, chic fall uniform: a crew neck sweater, skinny jeans, moto boots.

Be Sweet

Despite it’s loud color, this red lace frock is delicate and sweet. The above-the-knee hemline makes sure this dress stay far from fussy. I picture it with an armful of bangles or a great pair of biker boots, but add your own “twizzle” according to your own personal style.

TRICK out your wardrobe or TREAT yourself to some new duds, either way have some sweet fun!

Emporio Armani

In a story of masculine-meets-feminine ease, the Emporio Armani spring lineup displayed the designer’s best foot forward at contemporary sportswear pieces. A closer look at the collection made it seem as if I had flipped through an old-fashioned black-and-white photo album: classically piped blazers and jackets crowned with skimmer hats felt dainty yet refined. Halter dresses, slim skirts, and pastel cropped pants impressed with a definitive sensual feel. In all of its largely asexual appeal, however, these garments are truly ready-to-wear, even with the sparkling crystal details — perhaps the perfect touch to break the monotony of day-wear.

Emilio Pucci

While we may not all be bold enough to bare our own midriffs, Pucci’s above the belly tops yielded a muted sex appeal that all women aspire to exude, regardless of the stage or current phase of life. It was impossible to look away from the jumble of prints and peeks of lace insets. The black, red and pink palette initiated an early can’t-stop-me strength, and towards the end things got lighter (and shinier!). A lot of skin and a lot of awestruck detailing breathed new life into the storied Florentine brand- magnifico!

Jil Sander

Raf Simons teased us all with bits of color, but his main attraction, the show’s beginning and ending, was pure white. Jil Sander’s spring looks were rooted in its history with its “signature white poplin shirt,” sometimes sensually sheer, further reinforcing a transparent theme for spring 2012. Paisley and gingham later made an appearance; it was certainly modernism combined with couture that sparked the curious, less minimalist spirit of the collection.

[All Images via Mai Lyngby & Emilie Guildal]

Ever the fashion week to expose emerging and innovative designers with an affinity for whimsy, the Copenhagen shows this season delighted the eyes. Though most designers presented their collections in the city hall, music theatre or a luxury hotel, Astrid Andersen broke the mold, inviting the fashion crowd to Fitness World where jacked non-models posed between sets in designer sports wear adorned with lace.

Henrik Vibskov, also notorious for unexpected venues, showed his collection as performance art in a Frederiksberg park, with models walking in circles through free-standing doors in double-lens-ed sunglasses.

Trash Couture rooted its collection in a parody of Black Swan, mixing lace-clad ballerinas in with the models, sashaying down the catwalk en point, while the Tabernacle Twins paid tribute to childhood, sending two models down the runway at a time in braids. Dennis Lyngsø kept spring/summer 2012 coherent, simple-yet-dark at Copenhagen city hall. His collection exuded sexiness without bordering on vulgar, presenting form-fitting knee length and floor length dresses in black and brown with Victorian collars accompanied by teased hair even Albert Einstein would find trendy.

Minimarket stayed true to its successful aesthetic, echoing patterns from last year’s collection, while updating this season’s designs with influences of Cleopatra’s Egypt and 90’s footwear. The crux? Lace and earth tones are back for fall, paired with ethnic accents and a draped silhouette, taut-yet-modest shapes or playful hints of color.

Whimsical and fairy tale-like, Graham’s collection this season recalls the romantic aesthetics of yesteryear, but makes his garments wearable for the now. The designer fused earth tones with red, black, floral, and a greener aquamarine to create a endearing-yet-edgy collection suitable for both scuttling across pavement or skipping through a pasture. The A-line shape appeared again, accompanied by draped dresses, fitted skirts and cropped pants falling just-below-the-knee , layered with loose fitting blouses, lace vests and tight geometric patterns. His first shoe collection (all ankle boots, both wedged and heeled) proved the perfect agent to seduce the audience, wooing in shades of olive, taupe, and red.
Enjoy!

Frida Weyer

Simple sophistication defined Frida Weyer’s collection this season, comprised of elegantly tailored looks found in a neutral palette. Asymmetrical frocks donned ruched up roses, aptly playing with the nude hues of fabric while subtle sequins and mini-bows accented soft ruffles and draped gowns. Taupe and beige lace galvanized the collection, either layered in gradations or adorned with floral cut-outs to further enliven the otherwise classic looks. In line with the grace and poise of her presentation, Weyer concluded with a series of rich evening gowns, ultimately culminating in a playful-yet-posh wedding dress led down the catwalk by the designer’s adorable daughters.

Guido Maria Kretschmer

In line with the finesse that is sure to dominate SS2011, Guido Maria Kretschmer revamped secretary suits and polished dresses fit for a southern derby. Dynamic high collars modernized the traditional cuts accentuated by carefully crimped hair reminiscent of the 1940s. Ensuring a cohesive, but not bland, collection to take shape before the trendy Berlin crowd, models rocked posh leather gloves and exquisite feathered hats. The palette meandered between earthly nudes and soft pinks dramatized by zestful black and white contrasts. The show reached its zenith with yet another wedding gown fit for an ice princess. The intricacies of an embroidered bodice, full skirt, and fairy tale crown had the audience expecting a prince to whisk the model away on a white horse.

Schumacher

With Mila Jovovich, Schumacher garnered high expectations for the looks to come down the runway. Lacing practicality for the metropolitan woman with a minimalist aesthetic, the designer presented a coherent collection best described as an urban safari. Light shades of gray and sheer materials evoked a sense of effortlessness to this season’s looks, made elegant by a simple up-do fit for both work and play. Accommodating the summer heat that is sure to repeat itself next year, Schumacher’s designs shared loose-cut fabrics in a soft color palette. The collection’s best trends? Definitely the endearingly earth-toned stripes and gray-on-gray layering of sheer textiles.

Though I wouldn’t turn to the 1980s (the decade that gave us mesh shirts, shoulder pads, and neon legwarmers), the Edwardian era (the period responsible for the bustle, the s-shaped corset, and the leg o’ mutton sleeve), or the bondage look (the style that gave us—well, you know) for the basis for my next outfit, Riccardo Tisci proves in his latest couture collection for Givenchy that combining the three together yields some surprisingly chic results. The typical outfit in this collection balanced feminine lace with hardcore leather straps or eerie mummy wrapping, soft, organza shoulder-poofs with skin-tight skirts and sleeves, and even the concealing and revealing effects of sheer, eyelet-covered veils.

Beauty through asymmetry was also a clear goal of Tisci’s, reflected in the fact that most of his dresses featured off-the shoulder cuts, irregular gathering, and elegant but unpredictable draping. My personal fave looks arose when Tisci loosened up a bit, let the fabric flow, and ditched the austere black and white for more playful colors such as ivory, champagne, canary-yellow, violet, or rose. All in all, the Givenchy Spring/Summer 2009 couture collection will leave your skin crawling and your hair raised; both because of its utter freakiness and its profound beauty.
