HP Spectre

HP, Alexandre Herchcovitch, and ME

The lovelies at Style Coalition threw a fabulous launch event that set us all abuzz; an intimate evening with HP’s newest product, and the man behind the most lovely of them all, fashion design phenom Alexandre Herchcovitch. WOW. Inspired by his fall/winter 2012 collection, the special edition notebook PC, HP Pavilion dm1 by Alexandre Herchcovitch was created by the world-renowned Brazilian designer to mimic the lace found in one of his dresses via a gorgeous design displayed on the notebook key deck, key caps (a first ever to have a design on the actual keys!), the mouse, back of the notebook, and a sleeve.

I made a beeline right for Alexandre the moment he walked into the Style Coalition lounge; I really really wanted to talk fashion, and his latest designs for the HP device, but also gush over how awesome he is! Just as I thought, he was cool, charismatic, and incredibly down-to-earth; Alexandre and I talked about his first runway show at New York Fashion Week, and I waxed poetic over what a haunting and memorable event it was (a serpentine runway lined with thousands of real flowers!).

After I “impressed” him with my only word of Portuguese (“obrigado,” which means “thank you”), we went on to discuss the inspiration of his design for the HP Pavilion dm1. He told me that when working on this project, he wanted to treat it just like he would a garment, and that every detail was quite important “You would want to make sure the zipper was in the right place and functioned in a dress, so why not bring the same elements to this notebook design?” he reasoned.  Decorating the keys with the designs was very important to him, and HP got the technology down perfectly to accommodate the artful and delicate lace pattern, which appears in a greenish-gold hue throughout.

Coming in at only 3 and a half pounds with 9.5 hours of battery life, you can own this beautiful yet functional PC in a heartbeat, exclusively sold in the USA at QVC, starting at $629.95.

See here for more pics from the event, as well as some of my favorites below, along with a very special video featuring Alexandre.
