Sadly, I wasn’t able to make it to the screening of the documentary God Save My Shoes courtesy of The Accessories Council and CAID Productions last Friday, but was still fortunate enough to recently view the documentary about women and their passion for shoes. It is an interesting phenomenon, to think about the lengths women go to in order to wear and attain a collection or gorgeous looking footwear, and on some level, we all can relate to marveling at a great looking pair of pumps that we knew might not have been a logical, functional purchase, but went for it anyways.
Currently screening at Quad Cinema in NYC, the docu features interviews by famed shoemakers Manolo Blahnik, Christian Louboutin, Bruno Frisoni, and Pierre Hardy, alongside fashion historians such as Valerie Steele (curator of the Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology) and Elizabeth Semmelhack, (curator of the Bata Shoe Museum in Toronto), and celebs such as Dita von Teese, Fergie, and Kelly Rowland.
