Cosmetics can be highly subjective, looking and working differently on various skin tones and types, as well as showing different levels of application and expertise due to the user’s skill level. That’s why it’s so important to be able to truly play with the makeup items you’re considering before making a purchase, as well as soliciting helpful advice from a professional knowledgeable with the brand. E.l.f. Cosmetics (eyes lips face) has recently expanded its Studio Store offerings to a second location in the Financial District, close to the seaport, the main thorough fare of Broadway, and landmarks such as Wall Street, the National September 11 Memorial & Museum, and off-price retailer department store Century 21.

The E.L.F. Studio Flagship Store Opens in NYC
When makeup costs as much as candy…one can’t help but snap it up as if it were a delectable tasty morsel! For cost-conscious, beauty product-loving women, e.l.f. (which stands for eyes, lips, face) is the perfect combination to get the products you desire without breaking the bank. Products can be as low as $1, and span every category from lipstick, mascara and eye shadow to makeup brushes, remover, and nail polish.
Since it’s inception almost 10 years ago, the brand has been available online and recently in select retailers, but for the first time, 60% of the line can be tested and purchased all in one location, that also offers free makeup lessons and makeovers by professional artists and the option to order and pick-up your favorite products. Shop 600 affordable items here that span their lines of essentials ($1-$2), studio (($3-$6), and mineral ($3-$8).
At the store opening celebration, I picked up a few amazing items courtesy of e.l.f. which include some of their best sellers, and my top picks, such as the Studio Collection Lip Exfoliator ($3), Mineral Infused Face Primer, 11-Piece Brush Collection ($45), and the Mascara & Shadow Shield ($3). What beauty item is running low in your makeup bag? Chances are, e.l.f. has it, at a price that will certainly make your day! See the slideshow above for my favorite, and images from the launch party.
The E.L.F. Studio Store is located at 741 Broadway in New York City’s Greenwich Village, open every day from 10am-830pm.

Just What Your LBD Needs: The Onasis Necklace
I recently had to dress in rather formal, yet bland attire for a business event, but couldn’t resist adding a bit of sparkle to spice up the look. I recently received the Onasis Necklace, $24, as part of the e.l.f. holiday collection at ShoptheLook.net, which perfectly complimented my all black jersey dress and blazer. Classic yet modern with a twist, the Onasis, I came to learn, was the recipient of many compliments as well as several “Where did you get that?” questions, which just propels me to try the piece with everything from a crisp t-shirt to peering out from under a button down blouse.

We Are Wearing: e.l.f. Studio Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder
I’ve got yet another e.l.f. product to woo you with this week! This time around it’s the e.l.f. Studio Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder, which comes in at a stunning $3. Yep, that’s it! The substantial compact comes with a mirror, but no brush (hey, for $3, I don’t mind recycling one of my existing makeup brushes for this!), and is modeled similarly to the NARS Highlighting/Bronzing Blush Duo, $40 at Sephora. First use the bronzer as a contour on the cheekbones and all over the face, then come in with the blush, applied to just the apples of the cheeks. Great for adding some layered color to your face, as well as having two options in one in your makeup bag!
