Are you ready for a wonderful weekend? I wanted to send you off into it with the latest and greatest that I’ve experienced, tested, and heard this week from the worlds of fashion and beauty. Enjoy!
Since the nearest Sears store to Manhattan is located in Jersey City, I honestly haven’t set foot in a store…in a very long time! I have found memories of the store, having purchased my first pair of ballet slippers there, and it being a stalwart of my neighborhood while growing up in Pittsburgh, PA. I went to the press previe this week, which highlighted the store’s fashion-forward items for fall 2014 and I couldn’t help but nod my head approvingly at the fashion jewelry and accessories that are due to hit stores in several months. See the slideshow above for my favorites, which include some must-try trends jewelry such as tribal, abstract metal designs in silver and gold tones, new wave pearls, studs and pyramids, along with some wallets and handbags too!
Most of us find that there’s just not enough time in the day to get everything done that needs to be completed, AND find some time to relax. If you feel the crush of work and chores and skip out on relaxing, what if I told you there was a way to do it while also accomplishing something you do on a daily basis, like shower? Thanks to essio and its aromatherapy diffuser, pop on the shower arm attachment to your shower head and select an essential oil pod to bring the spa experience to your home.
I tested it out this past weekend with the brand’s starter kit ($44.99), which includes the diffuser and three different 100% USDA organic scents (Passion, Breathe, and Unwind) with ingredients including lavender, bergamot, peppermint, lemon, eucalyptus. The slow drip of the pod diffuses the scent while you rinse, making for a tranquil showering experience, and in my case, waftin into the next room for an aromatic apartment. Six different essential oil pods are available with various scents, and can be purchased in packs of four for $19.99. This definitely makes an awesome gift for yourself, and for someone in need of the transformational power of essential oils.
I’m SUCH a sucker for a good mint shade, and equally can’t resist a dusty blue hue, so the latest spring 2014 collection from essie, in my book, is AMAZING! Going with the pastel trend for spring, which we recently wrote about this past week, the six shade lineup reflect the latest looks from the runway, adding a bit of punch with deeper crimson and azure blue bottles. Available for purchase now at essie.com and fine salons and beauty destinations nationwide, the polishes retail for $8.50 each and are (from left to right): romper room, hide & go chic, fashion playground, style hunter, truth or flare, and spin the bottle. Jurlique is one of my favorite brands (and spas!), so it’s exciting when new products arrive to test, trust, and love. Two new products recently came my way: the Purely Bright Mist with VITABRIGHTKX, ($39), and the Purely Bright Day Moisturizer ($50), offer the benefits of the patent-pending natural superfruit lightening complex of VITABRIGHTKX with Kakadu Plum extract, a rich source of Vitamin C to combat signs of aging such as discoloration, dark spots, and skin dullness. Choose between a spritz on or cream form, or couple both of them together for an extra hydrated, protected effect. As always, Jurlique utilizes botanicals and proprietary blends free of parabens, artificial colors, fragrances, and other preservatives that cause concern.
It becomes easier and easier every day to achieve salon professional hair at home, and now, frizz-free, ultra smooth and shiny hair is attainable with two new products from TRESemmé. I first wrote about the brand’s 7 Day Keratin Smooth line during fashion week in February, and now, you can quickly get the silkiest strands around with the Keratin Smooth Illuminating Shine Spray and Keratin Smooth Smoothing Crème Serum. The lightweight spray is infused with keratin to provide the right touch of controlled shine and target frizz, while the crème protects from heat styling tools and can be used on wet or dry hair. Both provide coverage for up to 48 hours, and retail for a mere $4.99 each at food, drug, and mass market retailers nationwide.
