The Theme: Inspired by the 1966 cult French film “Qui etes vous Polly Magoo?” (Who are You, Polly Magoo?)
The Keys: Tina Turnbow for NYX Cosmetics, Simcha Whitehill for Color Club, Sarah Potempa for Sarah Potempa and Beauty.com
The Color Palette: Ultra dramatic black and white elongated eye, metallic nails, with textured hair.
The Execution: Turnbow took inspiration from the 1960s, in particular model Penelope Tree, to create a black and white expressive, dramatic, butterfly shape. She kept the skin clean and dewy, with the eyes as the focal point (using this ultra cool, The Curve NYX Cosmetics Liner) and added a coral hued lip. When asked how the makeup can compliment, and not compete with the statement jewelry, Turnbow replied, “makeup is the accessory of the face; they can be separate accents.”
When it comes to nails, Color Club nail lead Ms. Whitehill demonstarted how to dab and swipe the top, bottom, and underside of a nail with a metallic hue for a bit of extra shine. Sarah Potempa demo’ed the hairstyle, which started with a hairbrush sprayed with hairspray in order to tease the hair, using the prep-a-comb tool she created to also tease without breaking the strands, and creating either a high pony tail or using her BeachWaver tool to rotate and create perfect waves.
