With Mother’s Day right around the corner and the weather getting warmer by the day, I’ve tested and experienced some wonderful new products with recommendations that I think you’ll find handy!
This week, I attended the “Celebrate the Beauty of Storytelling” event with Dove, which featured four stories that dealt with themes of inner beauty, confidence, and finding oneself, courtesy of the renowned organization The Moth, featuring storyteller (and actress) Molly Ringwald. The invite suggested bringing a woman who influenced the attendee’s own #beautystory, and naturally, I brought one of my best friends, Emily, who is as kind as she is beautiful. The evening fit nicely into Dove’s latest campaign of Dove Beauty Stories, featuring a short film (see it here, on YouTube) which is about a family from Pittsburgh (yay!), and its four generations of women all using the Dove Beauty Bar.Dove would like you to share your own #BeautyStory and celebrate the real women that have inspired it. Now through Mother’s Day (this Sunday), share your story on Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter, using the hashtag #BeautyStory. Like my fellow Pittsburghers featured in the video, I grew up on the mild and hydrating Dove Beauty Bar as well, and all through high school, used it on my body and my face. And I had GREAT skin, albeit sensitive, but well-moisturized and for the most part, remained clear and blemish free, even to this day. It was mom who taught me proper skincare and wanted me to hold off from makeup, slathering me in a ridiculous amount of sunscreen, and advising me on other factors that could damage it. What’s your #BeautyStory?
Yesterday I had written about fragrance being a great Mother’s Day gift, but jewelry will equally put a huge smile on mom’s face. I had recently viewed Pandora‘s current collection, part of its “The Art of You” campaign, and although I knew the brand primarily for its customizable charm bracelet options, I was pleased to see an awesome selection of delicate necklaces, rings, and jewelry that were both classic, on-trend, and altogether charm-free. For me, the rings were very much the highlight of the brand’s newest offerings, falling instantly in love with the Light as a Feather ring for me, and a Sparkling Leaves Stackable ring for mom. The best part about Pandora is its brand reputation and legacy (its been in business for 30 years), as well as affordable the products are, and easy to find retailers nationwide. See the pic above, as I modeled a few of my favorite rings style at the event!
It kind of feels like the warm weather just snuck up on us! My friend Megan and I are getting our first pedicures of the season tonight, but there are other things to do to get ready for the warmer months, and hence, shorter skirt options! You may want to have a few products around to get your skin ready for the season, and that unwanted hair gone, gone, gone! A few things that I’ve tested recently that are just perfect for the season include the new Gillette Venus Swirl Razor, which includes the FLEXIBALL technology so that it can easily curve around and navigate your body with its five contour blades and microfine comb for a knick-free shave.
If you prefer a different approach to removing hair, try the Parissa Cane Sugar Organic Wax for legs, body and face, which you can warm up at home to do yourself and is designated to not irritate sensitive skin. Remember to exfoliate and moisturize too; I’ve recently been into the balancedguru Scrub Me Nice and Gritty Body Scrub that includes raw sugar, organic coffee, coconut oil, and cocoa butter so that you remain moisturized, while the NIVEA In-Shower Body Lotion comes in Norma to Dry, Dry, and Very Dry formulas, that is applied while you are wet and in the shower, rinses off, and leaves your skin hydrated all day long.
