Carlos Campos’ Spring 2012 Presentation makes it pretty clear why the designer was nominated this year for the CFDA Award. The collection possessed strong men’s staples for spring – tailored shorts and short sleeved shirts that were styled with tribal-printed belts, waist band detailing, and fabric blocking – subtle details that created a twist to the basics, reminiscent of a modern uniform. Infused with spring-friendly colors such as bright cerulean blue and pastel rose, the presentation showcased looks that were trend-heavy – color blocking and military silhouettes dominated the collection. From a pastel yellow and teal color-blocked bomber to tailored khaki pants with an asymmetrical front button flap, the pieces were all very wearable and fun, yet injected with a dose of relaxed cool, and it would be no surprise if Carlos Campos snags an award this year.
