Don’t get me wrong — I love my bubblegum pink Hello Kitty rain boots (no joke), but I’ll be the first to admit that they’re not the coolest way to stay dry. Rain boots have always been the perfect excuse to go all-out kitschy — whether in bright colors or cutesie patterns — no matter how mismatched they might be with the rest of your outfit. However, considering all the ultra-stylish makeovers the “wellie” has undergone seen this season, it may be time to ditch your current pair and upgrade with one of these on-trend takes on the rain boot!
Boot brand Chooka is known for its variety of prints, and these lacy ones are surprisingly sophisticated… and dare I say sexy? For some pretty sweet takes on the military trend, the laces and buckled harness details of these Tory Burch boots definitely make for a trendier pair than any rubber wellies I’ve seen before, but for something a bit more discreet, these Loeffler Randall desert-boot-inspired rain booties hardly look like rain boots at all! If you’re still a sucker for bright colors, you can still go fun and bold with a chic over-the-knee version of the rain boot, courtesy of Calvin Klein! If you’re not worried about breaking the bank, you could go for my personal favorite — these Dolce & Gabbana sequined boots — to help you shine as you stroll despite the dreary weather!

In the world of fashion, black is always a safe, chic choice. I easily have eight lbds that I wear on a regular basis, with brands ranging from Target to J.Crew and Calvin Klein to Norma Kamali with styles ranging from boatneck to strapless, empire to full-skirted numbers. The one thing that always remains the same across all of these styles? The ability to include a ‘stunner’ – a terrific accessory- be it footwear, earrings, necklaces, or bracelets, that give your lbd a tremendous amount of personality and individual style. Giant bunny head bows and pink lips were only two of the elements that made Marc by Marc Jacob’s Spring 2010 collection absolutely adorable. Cute, playful, and true to the brand’s quirky aesthetic, the collection featured a lot of bright colors, zany mixed prints, and 40s-style dresses that came together to create youthful, wearable pieces (especially considering the absence of sky-high platforms!) that somehow manage to fit together perfectly.

Calvin Klein
Francisco Costa retained Calvin Klein’s signature minimalistic aesthetic for Spring 2010 with garments that truly looked like works of art. He was inspired by California fiber artist Ferne Jacobs’ basket work and Calvin Klein’s spring 1994 collection; Costa’s take was very relaxed and natural, giving the garments an organic feel. Loose-fitting dresses, light fabrics, flat Japanese-inspired sandals, earthy tones and crumpled textures all came together to form a refreshing and seemingly simple collection, though the textures and structure were anything but — the needle-punched detailing and subtle layering made this more than your standard minimalistic 90s-throwback collection.
