Lately on the blog there’s been a lot of talk of what to expect for holiday, and as difficult as it can be about thinking about Christmas in July, it’s inevitable that it, and the cold weather, will be here before we know it! Once it draws closer, I will do a roundup and refresher of these collections and products so that you don’t have to remember this far back what you loved from Athleta, but in the meanwhile, isn’t it exciting to take a peak into the future?

For holiday 2015, Athleta continues along with offering favorite customer styles and silhouettes, revamped and enhanced with even better fabrications and designs than ever before. A master of must-have prints, expect some new blockbusters, like the introduction of shimmer, along with the “Superimpose” print (seen here), ombré striped tights, and a vibrant cobalt color taking center stage.

Per usual, choose from high, medium, or low support, depending on your body’s needs and activities, and expect even more from the Unstinkable Technology and wicking Velocitek fabrics. For more casual, athleisure/athletic-inspired lifestyle pieces, shop for yourself or for gifts in the realm of cashmere or merino sweaters, “lumberJill” shirts, softer than soft beanies, and lighter than light winter jackets featuring synthetic insulation (for quicker drying if they get wet).

Last but not least, holiday will usher in the second collection of Derek Lam 10 C for Athleta, which has an incredible mixed media leather jacket, soft and nubby sweaters, color blocked long sleeve tops, sleek pants, and even a pair of New Balances especially designed by Lam for the brand. There’s lots to love from Athleta‘s fall 2015 collection, but the biggest news is the collaboration between Derek Lam 10 Crosby and the brand, which will span three seasons and will first appear in select stores on September 8th, 2015, and online on September 3rd, 2015. The lifestyle lineup will include two-in-one pieces, luxe leather jogging pants and shorts, cropped tops, dolman sleeved jackets, and asymmetrical tops. It’s functional, versatile, and very on point with Athleta’s function-meets-style mission. Unfortunately, images of the collection will be available at a later date, but I can assure you that it is GOOD, darn GOOD! Presented at Title Boxing Club in New York City, the rest of the Athleta pieces were just as covetable as the new collection, featuring new prints, fabrics, and styles that are sure to become classics (see my favorites via the slide show above).

Yoga, my favorite category (and activity!) has a lineup of great capri pants in dazzling prints, along with ultra-comfy tops and bras so that nothing feels out of place during your inversions and moving through your vinyasa. New to Athleta are lifestyle bras, wire-free and seamless, they provide great support with a bit of padding. The outerwear for fall is extremely strong, with eye-catching prints in puffer vests, modern jewel tones in rain jackets, and even a scuba-fabric hoodie/jacket hybrid option that is very on trend for the season. As always, there are plenty of options to move through your desired activity, be it high impact or athleisure, this fall with Athleta. If you’re in the mood to shop now, a bunch of beach-worthy items just hit the site, ranging from rash guards and one-pieces to ultra stylish mix and match two-pieces.

Athleta for Summer 2015

Athleta showcases, in my opinion, one of the most colorful, pattern-rich collections to-date for summer 2015, which feels perfectly in line with the propensity for outdoor activities in the warmer months. The hypersonic print is a fresh take on tie-dye, while complimentary tops and sports bras come in a sophisticated neon palette. In recent seasons, the brand has broken away from built-in bras, which has enabled them to add wonderful detailing and ventilation options to bras and tops, visible mainly in the back, and functional for a variety of movements that will get your pulse going.

Swim is a strong category for the season, with super cute and functional bikinis, tankinis, and one-pieces alongside high performance pieces like swim capris and rashguards. And let’s not forget about those coverups! Athleta always has great options that transition perfectly into other occasions, with some favorites for the summer including the mesh pullover, kimmsa tunic, brilliance vest, and aspire ankle pant. Athleisure is REAL !

I’ve fully embraced “athleisure,” that is, the combination or rather, crossover, of athletic wear into casual life. It’s hard to tell how many others are as well though, since it’s ambiguous if someone is coming from the gym…or wearing these items out and about! Some truly transition quite nicely between two lives, as seen above with my “going out” version versus my actual working out iteration, with the only difference being a scarf and a pair of heels. Even my jewelry goes the extra mile, actually being designated for both hair elastics and as bracelets.

Athleta really is the epitome of the making this look work and work exceedingly well, while when I need to hit the gym for real, my new Ryka Running shoes have memory foam in them to make them the height of comfort with a fashion forward trim that will match my gear seamlessly.

We love a bang for our buck, and versatility, especially in a world when we are always on the go and who has time, really, for outfit changes?
