We sincerely hope you didn’t miss The Met Gala Red Carpet, but just in case you did, we have rounded up our Fashion Pulse Daily “Bests” of the evening full of glamour, in honor of Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations exhibit launch.

Best Sparkle: Carey Mulligan co-chaired the evening’s event in none other than Prada (see above).

Best Use of Color: Gwyneth’s light lavender Prada mini was just the right amount of color, and did you see those sequin pockets?

Best in White: Claire Danes owned the room in a J. Mendel dress alongside Hugh Dancy in Prada.

Best in Black: Linda Evangelista looked timeless and elegant in Prada. (Renee Zellwegger looked equally as fabulous in Emilio Pucci, a close second!)

Best Stripes: Rose Huntington-Whiteley took our breath away in Burberry stripes.

Best Makeup: Camilla Belle’s dark plum/chocolate lip is so perfect with her Ralph Lauren gown.

Best Duo: Chanel Iman and Tom Ford redefined classy cool. PS. Her dress was made of pheasant feathers!

[image via www.huffingtonpost.com

Best Accessories: (besides Gisele having Tom Brady on her arm...) Jessica Stam looked ravishing in Dior, and those bracelets up her arms were equally as divine.

Best Metallic: Nina Dobrev’s custom designed Donna Karan number left her glowing head to toe.

Best Train: Her fashionably late entrance didn’t make much of a difference. When Beyonce entered, she stole the show in sexy, snug Givenchy.

Best Strapless: Ashley Greene hit all the right notes in angelic Donna Karan.

Now, don’t you feel like you were there on the star-studded scene? There are so many more looks to be floored by!

The Oscars, also known as the Academy Awards, are held annually in honor of cinematic excellence. Why not bestow awards for sartorial grandeur as well? We tuned in to choose our best dressed (in random order).

1. Jessica Chastain in McQueen: Jessica looked utterly gorgeous in a black and copper strapless gown of stunning hand embroidery. Her fair complexion and half-up hairstyle were equally as divine, as was the fact that she brought her Nana along for the evening!

2. Rose Byrne in Vivienne Westwood: This midnight blue one-shoulder embellished number was quite the contrast from the much-talked about Elie Saab white jumpsuit Rose recently wore to the SAG Awards. We think she nailed it, yet again, proving that everything we know and love about elegant monochromatic looks reigns true. Did you catch a glimpse of her Chanel fine jewelry as well? To.die.for.

3. Michelle Williams in Louis Vuitton: Coral, peplum, cascading ruffles to the floor…this dress is perfection in many ways. We adore Michelle’s choice to to top it all off with dainty jewelry.

4. Gwyneth Paltrow in Tom Ford: Rather amazingly, Gwyneth pulled off a cape on the Red Carpet. Could she have been any more statuesque in this all white structured look? The gown was modern-feminine, and the cape was menswear-distinguished in a way that only she knows how to own. OUR WINNER.

5. Cameron Diaz in Gucci: That peachy color and ever-so-slight sequin detail looked so fun and fresh. The skin tight strapless bodice and floor trailing ruffles really upped the glam factor, all the while maintaining Cameron’s one of a kind dynamic personality.

6. Angelina Jolie in Versace: Once again she looked untouchable in an all-black fantastic gown. The super high slit showed a lot of leg, while the pop of volume at the hips pleasantly surprised us. And that red lip…swoon.

Who do you deem the supreme head turner?

SELF Magazine‘s Fashion Director, Evyan Metzner, knows a thing or two about conducting a successful photo shoot. With over 20 years of industry experience, Metzner travels all over the world to conduct shoots for SELF, Teen Vogue, Vanity Fair, New York Magazine, and InStyle. She’s worked with Beyonce, Jennifer Aniston, Jennifer Hudson, Gwyneth Paltrow, Carrie Underwood, Kristen Bell, Taylor Swift, and more, with some of the shoots she’s styled pictured below. FPD was able to get the skinny from Metzner, for you aspiring stylists out there, what its like to be a stylist and how to prepare for a styling career.

FPD: Most people want to know how to jump start a styling career, let alone become a fashion director; what sound advice might you give them to follow to make their dream a reality?

EM: “First, I’d suggest reading, looking at, and watching fashion and style magazines and blogs, whether in print or on the iPad. See what you like and respond to: are you more of a full fledge fashion girl or do you like more lifestyle-like magazines, like SELF? What designers do you like? What photographers do you like? I’d also suggest following different editors on Twitter. And then intern, intern, intern. It is still the best way to get your foot in the door. While interning, see if you want to style (work with photographers and models on shoots), or want to be a market editor (they call in the clothes and accessories from designers & PR firms). And then take a look at the mastheads of the magazines you love. Find the editors’ email addresses or send them letters to ask for a meeting with their assistants. Its also important to understand that we all don’t start out in this industry doing exactly what we want to in the beginning. It’ll take a lot of energy and there is a lot of hard work, like packing and unpacking…and packing and unpacking. Most importantly, though — don’t give up!”

FPD: What would you say are some elements to look for, take note of, and analyze, when looking at editorial shoots in magazines, in order to become a novice (or better) stylist?

EM: “There always has to be a thread that pulls it together, whether it is a gold story and every piece has a golden element, or a Twiggy story, or menswear. You have to give a clear message over a certain amount of pages. It can have a more graphic or visual connection or a more storytelling connection, like being inspired by a book or movie, a painting or photograph. Also, keep it clear what kind of feeling you are trying to give the person looking at it. The type of hair, makeup, or attitude all make a picture and story. And as a stylist, you have to communicate that. And you have the control to do that.“

FPD: Do you think an understanding of photography or fashion design is necessary to work in this career?
EM: “I think you have to love fashion and/or photography to be a good fashion editor / stylist. In the end, you are always having to come up with story ideas and how you want to show them. I don’t think you have to go to school for it necessarily, but you have to want to know about it. And its a lot of work, so loving it is key.”

FPD: You have had such an incredible career thus far; what do you think the key is to managing a successful styling career?
EM: “Being a good stylist is about being open to new ideas, trends, and change. And being flexible since many things changes last minute before, during, and after shoots. I also think being able to get the best out of all the people you are working with is key. You need to be a good communicator. You should always look around you. There are ideas everyday, everywhere. Keep your mind and eyes open. Listen to younger and older people — you can always learn.”

FPD: What was the most challenging shoot that you’ve worked on?
EM: “I can’t say there is just one challenging shoot. Each one has their own special challenges, whether that be the model you’re working with, or weather, or cost, or photographer, or locations. I think the hardest ones are when you work with people who are difficult to communicate with and make the day hard. It is and should be a team effort and when a photographer or a model is difficult, well, you certainly have a challenge. As the editor, YOU have to make it all work out. Its your job. You are the peacemaker. The conductor. And of course when weather is bad — like a hurricane in Palm Beach, or it rains for the first time in 174 days in the desert in Australia — well, it gets difficult.”

FPD: Since you travel extensively, what are three (carry-on) beauty items that are found in your bag at all times?
EM: “First of all, I almost always carry-on my bag when traveling, unless I’m going for more than 5 days, or I have to go to fashion shows or bring snow pants and boots, etc. I always have Dr. Hauschka eye and hand cream, a travel toothbrush and paste (a must), lip balm (always changing, but I’m into Burts Bees at the moment), and a sleep mask and headphones for sleeping. And a good book for when I’m asked to shut my iPad off.”

FPD: At shoots, what are several essentials to always have on hand, that could potentially come in and save the day?
EM: “Always always large sharp safety pins — they can make anything look good if you learn how to pin it. Double stick tape (the wig type — we use Topstick). Small, sharp sewing scissors. All in a fanny pack. And all must haves!”

Barbie fans can now own piece of this iconic doll’s wardrobe, a silver and black Swarovski crystal corset, as seen on Katy Perry at a photocall appearance in Vienna.

On the June cover of Grazia UK Lady Gaga appears wearing a latex bra by award-winning designer Atsuko Kudo. While the idea of using latex for a bra, or anything other than a medical glove, may seem unusual, this is not the first time Gaga has been photographed in the slick material. In fact, latex is anything but an odd spotting in the performing world nowadays with celebrities such as Beyonce, Christina Aguilera and Rihanna bravely bearing their curves in the stretchy fabric. It seems Hollywood is becoming addicted to latex and Atsuko Kudo, the go-to for couture latex (who knew latex could be couture, by the way?).

Before squeezing celebrities into latex bodysuits, Kudo went to fashion school in Tokyo where she fell for the unique fabric. “I graduated from fashion college wearing latex when others were wearing suits or kimonos!” Kudo explained in an interview with Sophie Eggleton for Stylebible.com. And latex is more than a flighty choice of fabric for Kudo, who is also the European Fetish Award winner for Best Fetish Design in 2008 and 2009 (we didn’t know about these awards until now either!), latex is a way of life and empowerment. “Maybe the world knows that if you are strong-headed enough to wear latex clothing, no one can mess around with you.”

While I think of myself as a strong woman and someone people can’t push around, I don’t really know how I feel about jumping into an Atsuko Kudo number like the yellow one Beyonce wore in the “Telephone” video. However, the back-to-back Best Fetish Design winner produces some surprisingly wearable pieces like latex leggings and accessories like the beret pictured below on Naomi Campbell on the cover of Korean Vogue. And of course, if you’re feeling exuberantly empowered one day and want to try out one of Kudo’s more daring corseted dresses or cat suits, those are available too at atsukokudo.com.

As the third video installment from the Fame Monster album, “Alejandro” has found success on the air waves and now via video thanks to the direction of famed fashion photographer Steven Klein. Almost nine minutes long, the video, clad with stiletto gyrating monks, a machine gun bra and a latex Gaga nun is nothing less than cutting edge and shocking – but what else would you expect?

Being about as far away from the previous mini-saga video hit ”Telephone” as Armani Privé is from Betsy Johnson, “Alejandro” is truly an entity all of its own. Stepping back from the product placements and saturated colors of videos past, “Alejandro” is entrenched in 1920′s Weimar Germany references (which you may have noticed if you’ve seen “Cabaret”) with bed scenes that would make Hugh Hefner blush. This video is not a mere installment of pulpy pop culture but an artful, provocative entanglement of political and religious charge. As Director Steven Klein admitted in a Rolling Stone interview, “Alejandro” is the mere process to express Lady Gaga’s desire to reveal her heart and bear her soul.”

Director and fashion photographer Steven Klein can not go without credit; disregarding the usual rules, Klein has created a dark, sexually ambiguous masterpiece. Through the video’s fashion, Klein, the anti-fashion fashion photographer known for his work with Madonna, has lived up to his legend with s&m whips galore and an ability to transform traditional images like a nun’s habit into risque blasphemies. With all of this imagery, the realization of glamour was not lost in this video, however it became upheld to a darker, yet, greater standard. Through the Nazi uniforms, homoerotic officers, and Gaga’s assault weapon bra ”Alejandro” is decadently transgressive, and oh-so Gaga.

Let’s see what surfaces for Gaga’s next video from the new album!
