I don’t know what it is exactly about this fall/winter season, but for the first time ever, I’ve fallen head over heels for faux fur accessories. A source of warmth and comfort, there’s no denying their practicality in boots, however with handbags and jewelry, the reasoning behind it falls into a purely aesthetic category. Still, I am taken with the fuzzy stuff, especially when the hue is a bit of an ombre mix, as seen on my booties, above and below.
I’ve been thinking a lot about how to mix and match them with existing pieces in your wardrobe, and it really comes down to three elements:
1) Pick one color found in the faux fur and let that be your leading shade that will string the rest of your cold weather, layered look together
2) Keep the rest of your silhouette streamlined and tailored to not add too much bulk to your look
3) Check the weather forecast: there’s nothing that will make your faux fur items look crappy, fast, than a surprise downpour of rain, sleet, or snow! The best rule of thumb for these days is not to use them, but if you must, carry a plastic bag on you to drop them in, and if it’s shoes, have a backup pair easily accessible.
Stay tuned for how to style a more formal pair of faux fur heels, coming in the next few weeks to FashionPulseDaily.com!
