From our friends at thefind.com:
The choppy, pixelated look may be a bit obsolete (okay, way obsolete) when it comes to computers, TVs, and video games (unless you still haven’t upgraded your gaming system since the days of Atari), but as retro looks are always revived in the modern fashion arena, apparently so are old school techy prints! Pixelated prints are a cool, quirky throwback to the Digital Age, giving an edgier look to your average stripes, plaids, and even florals. But that doesn’t mean that the look itself is geeky or out-dated — rock the digi look on a bright bikini, a semi-sheer button-up blouse, or even a strong-shouldered mini dress for a look that’s sexy and modern yet still a cheeky nod to the days before HD. Now all you need is a faded denim jacket, some shoulder pads, and a penny arcade to show off your new duds. Mrs. Pac-Man who?!

I’ve had a big crush on anything and everything Helmut Lang these days, hence I wanted to share some of my favorite looks from the fall/winter 2010 collection as well as the fall/winter 2010 denim collection. It’s just always so chic, so subtle, so metropolitan. Here’s what creative directors Nicole and Michael Colovos had to say about fall/winter 2010:
“This season we were looking at images of architect Santiago Calatrava’s work and were intrigued by his modern structures that he made which evolved out of something more classic. The elements that we were drawn to were the different textures created by the modern and classical worlds. We used textured wools, furs, blistered looking leather, silks crepes and mixed them together with cleaner fabrics to create dimension. We explored volume within structure by adding darts and seams to control the volume and the drape of the fabrics. Prints were made from looking at industrial textures and nature, and exploring the contrast between them. Colors were inspired by old mining factories where there is a heightened sense of the intermingling of industrial and natural elements.”

Its been two years in the making, and the celebration of Fashion 2.0‘s anniversary was THE feté of the summer (even if I do have a biased opinion as the co-organizer!). Presented by eBay, the event was held on the posh triple penthouse of Hotel Rivington and luckily the weather complied so that party goers could take in the view of lower Manhattan from the roof deck. Fashion 2.0, a monthly networking series that brings together fashion and tech professionals to network and provoke thought on relevant subjects such as private sales, luxury versus mass goods, online videos, and more was a great match for the new fashion and tech ventures found at eBay.
At the event guests learned about the launch of the fashion.ebay.com portal as well as designer exclusive stores (Norma Kamali and Narciso Rodriguez created collections for the brand), and the Fashion Vault at eBay, where amazing private sales on designer merchandise now live. The brand also recently launched TheInsideSource, a style-oriented editorial destination worth a look, and a very cool iPhone app coming out soon that will make shopping and bidding on the site easier than ever! And of course, the gift bag goodies: eBay provided the adorable totes and gift cards, while Avon was kind enough to include one of their latest products, the Lotus Shield, which is Avon’s first anti-frizz styling product and adds a “waterproof” layer to the hair, actually repelling moisture and performing in upwards to 97% humidity (it’s $12 and will be available beginning in late July 2010) and they gave us a pair of earrings for each of the guest from their fab jewelry collection. Thanks to all attendees for a wonderful evening and supporting Fashion 2.0 the past two years!
