Bridal trends over the past few seasons have been veering away from conservative and adding more non-traditional details, ranging from shorter hemlines, color-infused details to tiers of ruffles and rosettes. One look that’s still going strong is old school, red-carpet glamour with a mix of over-the-top runway. Think movie sirens like Ava Gardner, Marlene Dietrich and Liz Taylor with a lil’ Dior thrown in for fall wedding dresses. Luxurious fabrics, faux-fur and gathered trains with embellished crystals scream classic vintage movies. Warm, dusty colors such as pale pink, salmon and lavender have been very dominant for bridesmaid dresses this spring. For the Melissa Sweet line, red made quite a statement for an alternative to a fairer color palette. One can assume that this line is referencing the Carolina Herrera Spring 2010 collection of retro hats and feathers, since these straw fedoras as a bridesmaid accessory are amazing!

Madonna’s New Clothing Line, Material Girl

Via Ok! Magazine
Madonna and her 13 year-old daughter Lourdes Leon will be launching their junior clothing and accessories collection, Material Girl, exclusively at Macy’s on August 3rd. The line is greatly influenced by how Madge used to dress but as she said to Us Magazine, “The actual design is all Lola.” Having recently debuted sketches for the affordable Fall 2010 collection, retailing from $12-$40, Material Girl is offering a great mix of fun mini-dresses, skinny jeans, flirty blazers and cute accessories.
Taylor Momsen has also been chosen to be the face of the pop icon’s fashion line. Featuring edgy, rocker-inspired back-to-school items, the 17-year-old singer and actress should be a perfect fit for the teen line.

Win Fashion Pulse Daily’s Favorite Sorrelli Earrings!
Remember that post on the lovely MiMi by Sorrelli Industrial Layered Drop Earrings a few weeks ago? Sorrelli was kind enough to give me a pair to wear, and I haven’t taken them out of my lobes since (you can see them on me in this pic from the Fashion 2.0 two year Anniversary party), so it’s about time that I hook up one of the FPD readers with a pair as well! The MiMi by the Sorelli line is the younger sister to the signature line, and is full of great stone and chain-adorned pieces. To win the MiMi by Sorrelli Industrial Layered Drop Earrings, you should:
RULES OF ENTRY:
1) Tell us what your most sentimental piece of jewelry is and why (for example, mine is a jade ring that I wear everyday: it was the last gift I received from my Aunt, and I wouldn’t trade it for a million dollars!)
2) Follow Sorrelli on Twitter OR join the Fashion Pulse Daily Facebook Page (if you’re not already doing so) NOTE: let usk now which one you do, and if it’s twitter, be sure to put your twitter @ handle in the comments with your response to #1!
3) USA entrants only, one entry per person, must be 18 or older.
Good luck!
**Contest ends Wednesday, August 4th 2010 at 11:59pm. The winner will be selected using Random.org.
